If the linear momentum of a body increases by `20%`, what will be the percentage increase in KE of body ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

From `KE=(p^(2))/(2m),`
as m is constant, therefore, `(E_(2))/(E_(1))=((p_(2))/(p_(1)))^(2)`
Now, `(p_(2))/(p_(2))=(120)/(100)=(6)/(5)` ltbr. `:. (E_(2))/(E_(1))=((6)/(5))^(2)=(36)/(25)`
`%` age increase in KE
`=((E_(2)-E_(1))100)/(E_(1))=((36-25)100)/(25)=44%`
