A bullet weighing `10g` is fired with a velocity of `800ms^(-1)`. After passing through a mud wall `1m` thick, its velocity decreases to `100ms^(-1)`. Find the average resistance offered by the mud wall.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Here,`m=10g=10^(-2)kg.`
`u=800ms^(-1),s=1m, upsilon=100ms^(-1), F=?`
As work done `=` change in K.E.
`Fxxs=(1)/(2)m u^(2)-(1)/(2)m upsilon^(2)`
`Fxx1=(1)/(2)xx10^(-2)(800^(2)-100^(2))`
`=(1)/(2)xx10^(-2)xx10^(4)(64-1)=3150N`
