Is torque a scalar or vector ? If it is a vector, what rule is used to determine its direction ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Torque is a vector quantity. `vec tau = vec r xx vec F`. Its direction is determined by right handed screw rule or right hand thumb rule and is perpendicular to `vecr` and `vecF`.
