A disc of metal is melted and recast in the from of a soild sphere. What will happen to the moment of inertia anout a vertical axis passing through the centre ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Moment of inertia will decrease, because
`I_(d) = (1)/(2)m r^(2) and I_(s) = (2)/(5)m r^(2)`, the radius of sphere formed on recasting the disc will also decrease.
