The radius of gyration of an uniform rod...

The radius of gyration of an uniform rod of length `L` about an axis passing through its centre of mass and perpendicular to its length is.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`K = ?` mass `= m`, length `L`.
Moment on inertia of the rod about an axis perpendicular to its length and passing through the centre is
`I = (mL^(2))/(12)`
Also, `I = m K^(2)`
`:. mk^(2) = (m L^(2))/(12) or K = (L)/(sqrt(12)) = (L)/(2sqrt(3))`
