A cork ball is floating on the surface of water in a beaker. The beaker is covered with a bell jar and the air is evacuted. What wil happen to the ball ?

A

Sink a little

B

Rise a little

C

Remain ucchanged

D

Sink completely

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
A

(a) Hence upthrust due to air will be replaced by water vpours. As water vapours are lighter then air, hence upthrust decreases. So the ball sinks a little.
