Asssertion: It is not possible for a system, unaided by an external agency to transfer heat from a body at lower temp. to another at a higher temp.
Reason: It is not possible to violate the second law of thermodynamics.

A

If both assertion and reason are true and reason is the correct explanation of assertion

B

If the assertion and reason are true but reason is not the correct explanation of assertion.

C

If assertion is true but reason is false.

D

If both assertion and reason are false

The correct Answer is:
A

Second law of thermodynamics can be explained with the help of example of refrigerator, as we know that refregerator , the working substance extracts heat from colder body and rejects a large amount of heat to a hotter body with the help of an external agency i.e. the electric supply of the refrigerator. No refrigerator can ever work without external supply of electric energy to it.

Assertion : It is not possible for a system, unaided by an external agency to transfer heat from a body at lower temperature to another body at higher temperature. Reason : According to Clausius statement, “ No process is possible whose sole result is the transfer of heat from a cooled object to a hotter object

Assetion : A refrigerator transfers heat from a lower temperature to a higher temperature. Reason: Heat cannot flow from a lower temperature to a higher temperature.

A refrigerator transfers heat from the cold coling coils to the warm surroundings. Is it against the second law of thermodynamics? Justify your answer?

Machine which tranfers heat from lower temperature region to higher temperature regions on its own without the interference of any external agency is

Assertion: If external force on a body is zero, its acceleration is zero. Reason: This is the simple from of Newton's second law of motion.

Statement-1: A refrigerator transfers heat from lower temperature to higher temperature. Statement-2: Heat can be transferred from lower temperature to higher temperature by itself according to first law of thermodynamics.

Assertion : First law of thermodynamics does not forbid flow of heat from lower temperature to higher temperature. Reason : Heat supplied to a system always equal to the increase in its internal energy.

First law of thermodynamics does not forbid flow of heat from lower teperature to higher temperature. Comment.
