The molarity of `H_(2)SO_(4)` is `18 M`. Its density is `1.8 g mL^(-1)`. hence it's molality is

A

`36`

B

`200`

C

`500`

D

`18`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
C

`M=18=("Moles of solute")/("Volume of solution in litre")`
i.e., `18 "mole" H_(2)SO_(4) or 18xx98 g H_(2)SO_(4)` are present in `1000 mL` solution.
Since density of solution`= 1.8 g//mL`
weight of solution `= 1.8xx1000=1800 g`
weight of water `=1800-18xx98`
`=1800-1764=36 g`
Now `m_(H_(2)SO_(4))=(18)/(36//1000)=500`
