Calculate the volume occupied by 4.5 kg ...

Calculate the volume occupied by `4.5 kg` water molecules at 1 atm and `300 K` if intermolecular forces vanish away .

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

In absence of intermolecular forces `H_(2)O`
will be converted into `H_(2)O_((g))`
Thus at `P = 1atm, T = 300 K`
`w_(H_2)O_((upsilon)) = 4.5 xx 10^(3)g`
`PV = nRT`
` 1 xx V = (4.5 xx 10^(3))/(18) xx 0.0821 xx 300`
` V =6.158 xx 10^(3)` litre ` =6.158 m^(3)` .
