How many gram of `CaCO_(3)` be decomposed to produce 20 litre of `CO_(2)` at 750 to and `27^(@) C` ? .

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`CaCO_(3) rarr Ca O + CO_(2)`
It is thus evident that 1 mole of `CO_(2)` is obtained by decomposition of 1 mole of `CaCO_(3)`
Also moles of `CO_(2) = (PV)/(RT)`
`=(750 xx 20)/(760 xx 0.0821 xx 300) = 0.80`
Thus mole of `CaCO_(3)` required `=0.80`
Also amount of `CaCO_(3)` required `=0.8 xx 100 = 80g` .
