A stone is released from the top of a tower of height 19.6m. Calculate its final velocity just before touching the ground.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Given : Height (h) = 19.6m,
Initial velocity (u) = 0 m/s
To find : Final velocity (v)
Formula : `v^2=u^2 +2as`
Calculation : For downward motion .
a=g, s=h, u=0
From formula
`v^2 = 2xx 9.8xx19.6`
`therefore v^2 = 384.16`
`therefore v=19.6m/s
