Explanation

i.The given diagram represents the experimental setup used for anodizing process.
ii. The process of coating metals such as aluminium and copper with a thin and strong layer of their oxides of electrolysis is called anodizing process.
iii. In this process, copper or aluminium article is used as anode.
iv. Since the thin uniform of oxide is formed all over the surface of metal, it helps to prevent corrosion of metal.
E.g. When aluminium is anodized, the thin layer of aluminium metal with oxygen and water .This prevents further oxidation of aluminium.This protection can be further enhanced by making the oxide layer thicker during anodization process.
