In an A.P. `17^(th)` term is 7 more than `10^(th)` term. Find the common difference?

The correct Answer is:
The common difference is 1

Let the first term of the A.P. be a and the common difference d.
`t_(n)=a+(n-1)d` …(Formula)
`thereforet_(17)=a+(17-1)d` ...(Substituting the values)
`thereforet_(17)=a+16d` …(1)
`t_(10)=a+(10-1)d`
`thereforet_(10)=a+9d` ....(2)
From the given condition and from (1) and (2),
`a+16d=a+9d+7`
`therefore7d=7" "therefored=1`.
