A stone is dropped from rest the top of ...

A stone is dropped from rest the top of a building 44.1 m high. It takes 3 s to reach the ground. Use this information to calcualte g.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Data : `u=0m//s, h=44.1m`
`therefore s=44.1m, t=3s, g = ?`
`s=ut+(1)/(2)at^(2)=(1)/(2)at^(2)" "(because u=0m//s)`
`therefore a=(2s)/(t^(2))=(2xx(44.1m))/((3s)^(2))`
`=(88.2)/(9)m//s^(2)=9.8m//s^(2).` It is the acceleration due to gravity.
`g=9.8m//s^(2)`.
