The mass and weight of an object on the ...

The mass and weight of an object on the earth are 5 kg nad 49 N respectively. What will be their values on the moon ? Assume that the acceleration due to gravity on the moon is 1/6th of that on the earth.

Data : `m=5kg, W=49N,`
`g_(M)=(g_(E))/(6),m` (on the moon) = ? W (on the moon) = ?
(i) The mass of the object on the moon =
The mass of the object on the earth = 5 kg
(ii) W = mg
`therefore (W_(M))/(M_(E))=(mg_(M))/(mg_(E))=(g_(M))/(g_(E))=(1)/(6)`
`therefore W_(M)=(W_(E))/(6)=(49N)/(6)=8.167N" (weight of the object on the moon)"`
