Two tungsten bulbs of wattage 100 W and 60 W power work on 220 V potential difference. If they ar connected in parallel, how much current will flow in the main conductor ?

Data : `P_(1)=100 W , P_(2)=60 W , V=220 V, `
`I= ? ` `therefore = P/V`
`P=VI therefore I_(1)=(P_(1))/(V) and I_(2)=(P_(2))/(V)`
Current in the main conductor , `I=I_(1)+I_(2)` (parallel connection)
`=(P_(1))/(V) +(P_(2))/(V)=(P_(1)+P_(2))/(V)=(100W+60W)/(220V)=(160)/(220)A`
`=0.727 A=` nearly 0.73 A
