When an object of height 2 cm is placed in front of a convex lens, the height of the image is found to be 3 cm. State the nature and position of the image giving reason.

When an object is placed between the optical centre and the principla focus of a convex lens , the image formed by the lens is virtual and larger than the object . When an object is placed between `F_(1)` and `2F_(1)` , the image formed by the lens is real and larger than the object.
In the above case, if the image is virtual , it will be erect and on the same side of the lens as that of the object. If the image is real, it will be inverted and beyond `2F_(1)` on the other side of the lens with respect to the object.
