Why are colour-blind persons are unable to distinguish between different colours? Explain.

(1) The cone -shaped cells in the retina of a person to colours. This makes the perception of colours possible.
(2) In the retina of colour-blind person, cone-shaped cells responding to certain specific colours are absent. Hence , they are unable to distinguish between different colours.
