Two circular, similar, coaxial loops carry equal currents in the same direction. If the loops are brought nearer, what will happen?

A

current will increase in each loop

B

current will decrease in each loop

C

current will remain same in each loop

D

current will increase in one and decrease in the other

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
B

When the loops are brought nearer, magnetic flux linked with each loop increase. Thus the current will be induced in each loop in a direction opposite to its own current in order to oppose increase in magnetic flux. This is in accordance with Lenz's law. So, the current will decrease in each loop.
