For the reversible system : X((g))hArrY(...

For the reversible system : `X_((g))hArrY_((g))+Z_((g))`, a quantity of `X` was heated at constant pressure `P` at a certain temperature. The equilibrium partial pressure of `X` was found to be `P//7`. What is the value of `K_(p)` at given temperature?

A

`6P//7`

B

`9P//7`

C

`36P//7`

D

`6P`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`underset((a-x))underset(a)(X) hArr underset(x)underset(0)(Y)+underset(x)underset(0)(Z)`,
Thus `P'_(x)=P((a-x))/((a+x))=(P)/(7)`
`:. 7a-7x=a+x`,
`x=(6a)/(8)=(3a)/(4)`
Also `K_(p)=(x^(2))/((a-x))xx[(P)/(a+x)]`
`=(9a^(2)xx4)/(16xxa)xx(Pxx4)/(7a)=(9P)/(7)`
