If the Earth be at one fourth its present distance from the sun, how many days will be charged in present one year on the surface of earth?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Here, `T_(1) = 365` days, `R_(1) = r`
`R_(2) = r//4, T_(2) = ?`
`T_(2) = T_(1) ((R_(2))/(R_(1)))^(3//2)= 365 ((r//4)/(r ))^(3//2)`
`= 365((1)/(4))^(3//2) = 45*6` days
Decrease in the number of days in one year of earth
`= 365 - 45*6 = 319*4` days
