An Earth satellite has time percircular,...

An Earth satellite has time percircular, calculate its height. Given, radius Earth `= 6380 km, g` at the surface of Earth `= 9.8 ms^(-2)`.

Text Solution

Here, `T = 90 "minutes" = 90 xx 60 s`
`= 5400 s`,
`R = 6380 km = 6380 xx 1000 m`
`= 6.38 xx 10^(6) m`
`g = 9.8 ms^(-2)`.
We know, `h = ((g R^(2) T^(2))/(4 pi^(2)))^((1)/(3)) - R`
`= [(9.8 xx (6.38 xx 10^(6))^(2) xx (5400)^(2))/(4 xx (22//7)^(2))]^((1)/(3))`
`= 6.652 xx 10^(6) - 6.380 xx 10^(6)`
`= 2.72 xx 10^(5) m`
