Why the value of acceleration due to gravity is more at the poles than at the equator?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

As `g = (GM)/(R^(2))`, where `M` is the mass and `R` is the radius of earth. The value of `R` is more on equator than at pole. Hence `g` at pole is greater then `g` at equator.
