In a car lift, compressed air exerts a force `F_(1)` on a small piston having a radius of `0.5 cm`. This pressure is transmitted to a second piston of radius 10.0 cm . If the mass of the car to be lifted is 1350 kg. calculate `F_(1)`. What is the pressure necessary to ac complish this task?

Here, `F_(1) =? R_(1) = 5/(100) m`
`F_(2) = 1350 kg f=1350 xx 9.8 N, r_(2) = 10/100 m`
As, `(F_1)/(F_2) = (F_2)/(A_2) or F_(1) = (A_1)/(A_2) F_(2) =(pi r_(1)^(2))/(pi r_(2)^(2)) F_(2)`
`F_(1) =(r_(1)^(2))/(r_(2)^(2)) F_(2) = ((5//100)^(2))/((10//100)^(2)) xx 1350 xx 9.8`
`=1470 N`
Pressure, `P=(F_1)/(A_1) = (F_1)/(pi r_(1)^(2)) = (1470)/((22//7)(5//100)^(2))`
`= 1.87 xx 10^(5)Pa`.
