The cloud's are seen floating in the sky. Why?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

We know that terminal velocity of a spherical body of radius r, density `rho` , falling through a viscous medium of viscosity `eta` and density `sigma` is given by `upsilon = (2r^(2)(rho-sigma)g)/(9eta) , i.e., upsilon prop r^(2)`
Since the terminal veloctiy of small droplets of water is very small, therefore, these small droplets acquire their terminal velocity much before reaching the surface of earth. Hence, they are seen floating in the sky in the form of cloud.
