Are the functions `tanomegat ` and `cotomegat`
(i) periodic and (ii) harmonic. Explain.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

(i) The functions `tan omegat` and `cotomegat` are periodic funcions. Each function has a period `T=pi//omega`, because
`tan[omega(t+pi//omega)]=tan(omegat+pi)=tanomegat`
`cot[omega(t+pi//omega)]=cot(omegat+pi)=cotomegat`
(ii) Since the functions `tanomegat` and `cotomegat` can have value between 0 and infinity, hence these functions are not harmonic functions.
