A wave pulse is travelling on a string of linear mass density `10gcm^(-1)` under a tension of 1kg wt. Calculate the time taken by the pulse to travel a distance of 50cm on the string. Take `g=10m//s^(2).`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Here, `m=10g//cm`
`=(10^(-3)kg)/(10^(-2)m)=10^(-1)kg//m`
`T=1kgwt=10N, v=sqrt((T)/(m))=sqrt((10)/(10^(-1)))=10m//s`
Time taken `=(di s t ance)/(velocity)=((50//100)m)/(10)=0.05s`
