How does the frequency of a vibrating wire change when the attached load is immersed in water.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

When the attached load is immersed in water, the apparent weight decreases. Therefore, tension T in string decreases. `v=(1)/(2l)sqrt((T)/(m))` decreases.

A hollow cylinder with both sides open generates a frequency v in air. When the cylinder is vertically immersed in water by half its length, the frequency will be

In the sonometer experiment , a tuning fork of frequency 256 Hz is in resonance with 0.4 m length of the wire when the iron load attached to free end of wire is 2 kg . If the load is immersed in water , the length of the wire in resonance would be ( specific gravity of iron = 8 )

An iron load of 2 kg is suspended in the air from the free end of a Sonometer wire of length 1 m. A tuning fork of frequency 256 Hz is in resonance with time the length of the sonometer wire. If the load is immersed in water that will be in resonance with the same tuning fork is (specified gravity of iron=8)

A load of 7.6kg hangs from the lower end of a stell wire is reigly clamped at the upper end. When the load immersed in wate, the length of the wire changes by 1mm. Calculate the length of the wire..
