Which of the following examples represent periodic motion?
(a) A swimmer completing one (return0trip from one bank of a river to other bank. (b) A freely suspended bar megnet displaced from its `N-S` direction and released. (c) A hydrogen molecule rotating about its centre of mass. (d) An arrow released from a bow.

(a) It is not a periodic motion. Though the motino of a sqimmer is to and fro but will not have a definite period. (b) It is a periodic motion because a freely suspended magnet if once displaced from `N=S` direction and let go, it oscillates about this position. Hence it is simple harmoic motion also.
(c) It is also a periodic motion. (c) It is not a periodic motion.

Which of the following statements are true about acceleration due to gravity ? (a) 'g' decreases in moving away from the centre if rgtR (b) 'g' decreases in moving away from the centre if rltR ( c ) 'g' is zero at the centre of earth (d) 'g' decreases if earth stops rotating on its axis

Two springs fixed at one end are stretched by 4 cm and 12 cm, respectively, when masses of 0.5 kg and 1 kg are suspended at their lower ends. They are displaced slightly from their mean positions and released. What is the ratio of their periods of oscillation ?

Representatives from eight different Banks viz.. A, B, C, D, E, F, G and H are sitting around a circular table facing the centre but not necessarily in the same order. Each one of them is from a different Banks viz. UCO Bank, Oriental Bank of Commerce, Bank of Maharashtra, Canara Bank, Syndicate Bank, Punjab National Bank, Bank of India and Dena Bank. F sits second to right of the representative from Canara Bank. Representative from Bank of India is an immediate neighbor of the representative from Canara Bank. Two people sit between the representative of Bank of India and B. Cand E are immediate neighbours of each other. Neither C nor E is an immediate neighbor of either B or the representative from Canara Bank. Representative from Bank of Maharashtra sits second to right of D. Dis neither the representative of Canara Bank nor Bank of India. G and the representative from UCO Bank are immediate neighbours of each other. B is not the representative of UCO Bank. Only one person sits between C and the representative from Oriental Bank of Commerce. H sits third to left of the representative from Dena Bank. Representative from Punjab National Bank sits second to left of the representative from Syndicate Bank. Who amongst the following sit exactly between B and the representative from Bank of India ? Who amongst the following sit exactly between B and the representative from Bank of India ?

One end of a metal rod of length L and mass M is pivoted to a fixed support and to its free end, a thin disc of mass m and radius r (L) is attached at its centre. In one case, the disc is attached to the rod in such a way that it is not free to rotate about its centre and in another case, teh disc is free to rotate about its centre. When the rod-disc system is displaced slightly from its equilibrium position and released. it peforms S.H.M. in vertical plane. Compare the restoring torque acting on the system and angular frequency in both the cases.
