The mass of 1m long steel wire is 20 g. The wire is stretched under a tension of 800N. What are the frequencies of fundamental mode of vibration and next two higher modes ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Here, `m=20 g=20xx10^(-3)kg,`
`T=800N,l=1m`
`v_(1)=(1)/(2l)sqrt((T)/(m))=(1)/(2xx1)sqrt((800)/(20xx10^(-3)))=(200)/(2)=100Hz`
Frequencies of higher modes of vibration are
`v_(2)=2v_(1)=200Hz, v_(3)=3v_(1)=300Hz`
