A guitar string is 90 cm long and has a fundamental frequency of 124 Hz. Where should it be pressed to produce a fundamatal frequecy of 186 Hz?

Here, `l_(1)=90cm, v_(1)=124Hz,`
`l_(2)=? v_(2)=186Hz.`
According to the law of length, `v_(2)l_(2)=v_(1)l_(1)`
`:. l_(2)=(v_(1)l_(1))/(v_(2))=(124xx90)/(186)=(4)/(6)xx90=60cm`
`:.` The string should be pressed at 60 cm from an end.
