The horizontal component of earth's magn...

The horizontal component of earth's magnetic field at a place is `0*4xx10^-4T`. If angle of dip `45^@`, what are the values of vertical component and total field strength of earth's field?

Here, `H=0*4xx10^-4T`, `delta=45^@`, `H=? R=?`
As `V/H=tan delta`
`:. V=H tan delta=0*4xx10^-4tan 45^@=0*4xx10^-4T`
From `H=Rcos delta`,
`R=(H)/(cos delta)=(0*4xx10^-4)/(cos 45^@)=0*4sqrt2xx10^-4T=0*56xx10^-4T`
