While convertying galvanometer into an ammeter, how does the parallel low resistance (shunt) bring the required changes in the galvanometer?

When a galvanometer is to be converted into an ammeter of a given range, a suitable low resistance `S=I_gG(I-I_g)` is connected in parallel with the galvanometer. In doing so, the limited current of circuit flows through galvanometer and remaining current of the circuit flows through shunt. Due to it, a galvanometer works as an ammeter of given range.
