What is the value of net force acting on...

What is the value of net force acting on a current carrying (i) rectangular coil and (ii) circular coil of same area placed in a uniform magnetic field? What will be the torque acting in each case?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The net force acting on each current carrying coil placed in magnetic field is zero. Torque on each coil is same provided the plane of each coil is equally inclined with the direction of magnetic field.
