Vertical component of earth's magnetic f...

Vertical component of earth's magnetic field at a place is `sqrt3` times its horizontal component. If total intensity of earth's magnetic field at the place is `0*4Gauss`, find (i) angle of dip (ii) horizontal component of earth's magnetic field.

The correct Answer is:
`60^@`; `0*2G`

`V=sqrt3H`, `R=0*4G`, `delta=?` `H=?`
`tan delta=V/H=(sqrt3H)/(H)=sqrt3` `:. Delta=60^@`
`H=Rcos delta=0*4 cos 60^@=0*4xx1/2=0*2G`
