Find the time required for a 50 Hz alter...

Find the time required for a `50 Hz` alternating current to change its value from zero to the rms value.

Text Solution

Let to equation of aternating current be
`I = I_(0) sin omega t = I_(0) sin 100 pi xx 0 = 0`
At time t, `I = I_(rms) = (I_(0))/(sqrt 2)`
`:. (I_(0))/(sqrt 2) = I_(0) sin omega t`
`sin omega t = (1)/(sqrt 2) = sin pi // 4`
`t = (pi)/(4 omega) = (pi)/(4 xx 2 pi xx 50) = (1)/(400) s`
`t = (1)/(400) s = 2.5 xx 10^(-3) s`
