Light can travel in vacuum whereas sound can not do so. Why?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Light being electromagnetic wave do not require
any material medium for its propagation. Hence
light can travel in vacuum. On the other hand
sound is a mechanical wave. It requires a
material medium for its propagation. Hence
sound can not travel in vacuum.
