While we are in a moving car, there are periodic interuptions in a radio signal that we hear. It occurs an account of interfering radio waves. This is a common form of interference, called multipath interference between a radio wave and its reflection.

Why danger signals are red ?

In a good FM radio receiver, the radio signal detected may be as much as 65 dB greater than the noise signal. What is the ratio of signal intensity to noise intensity ?

Astronauts in deep space use radio devices to communicate with each other. The radio device converts the sound produced by the first astronaut into radio signals that reach to the radio device of the second astronaut. There, this radio signal converts back into sound so that the second astronaut can hear the voice of the first. In outer space, astronauts use radio devices instead of direct sound to communicate because

If lambda is wavelength of radio signals to be transmitted, then the length of Hertz antenna is

Statement 1: In ground wave transmission the radio signals die out after travelling some distance. Statement-2: Radio signals have a very short wavelength and hence are scattered away by the dust particles and molecules of gases in the atmosphere.

Two radio antennas separated by 300 m as shown in figure simultaneously broadcast indentical singals at the same wavelength. A radio in a car traveling due north receives the signals. (a) If the car is at the position of the second maximum, what is the wavelength of the signals? (b) How much farther must the car travel to encounter the next mininum in reception? (Note: Do not use the small- angle approximation in this problem.)
