As is known, if a and b are amplitude of two waves, then `I_(max) = (a + b)^(2)`, and `I_(min) = (a - b)^(2)` When second slit is covered by a transparent paper b decreases.
`:. I_(max)` would decrease, and
`I_(mni)` would increase.
The contrast between maxima and minima will decrease.
