Diameter of the objective (or aperture) ...

Diameter of the objective (or aperture) of an astronomical telescope is doubled. How does it affect resolving power of the telescope and intensity of the image ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The resolving power is doubled
`( because R.P. = (D)/(1.22 lambda))`
and intensity of image becomes `4 times` as area of the objective lens becomes `4 times`.
