Find the ratio of the magnitude of the electric force to the grativational force acting between two protons.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Let q,m be the charge and mass of a proton and r be the distance between them.
Gravitational force between two protons will be
`F_1=G.(m xx m)/(r^2)...(i)`
Coulomb's force between these two protons will be
`F_2=1/(4pi in_0) (qxxq)/(r^2).....(ii)`
form (i) and (ii), `(F_2)/(F_1)=1/(4pi in_0)xx(q^2)/(m^2) xx 1/G`
`=(9xx10^9xx(1.6xx10^(-19))^2)/((1.66xx10^(-27))^2xx(6.66xx10^(-11)))~~10^(36)`
