Which one of the following cannot emit r...

Which one of the following cannot emit radiation and why ? Excited nucleus excited electron.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Excited nucleus can emit radiation, but excited electron cannot. This is because energy of electronic energy levels is in the range of electron volt (eV) and not MeV (million electronic volt). `gamma` -radiations have energy of the order of MeV.

Which of the following cannot act as stimulus for excitation of central chemoreceptors?

Hydrogen atom in third excited state de-excites to the first excited state. Obtain the expressions for the frequency of radiation emitted in this process. Also determine the ratio of the wavelengths of the emitted radiations when the atom de-excites from the third excited state to the second excited state and from the third excited state to the first excited state.
