The number of beta particles emitter by ...

The number of beta particles emitter by radioactive sustance is twice the number of alpha particles emitter by it. The resulting daughter is an

A

isotope of parent

B

isobar of parent

C

isomer of parent

D

isotone of parent

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
A

Emission of one `alpha` particle becuase the charge number by 2 and emission of two `beta` particles increases the charge number by 2. Therefore, charge number or atomic number after emission of one `alpha` particle and `beta` particle remains the same. Hence the resulting daugther must be an isotope of the parent involving decreases in mass number by 4.
