What do you understand by (a) medium wave band (b) short wave band?

Explanation

(a) Medium wave band deals with the ground
wave propagation of amplitude modulated radio
waves. These waves are travelling directly
following the surfaces of earth. The frequency of
ground waves can be upto 1710 kHz.
(b) Short wave band deals with the sky wave
propagation of amplitude modulated radio
waves. These waves can travel in sky and are
reflected back by ionosphere of earth's
atmosphere. The frequency of these radio waves
varies from 3MHz to 30 MHz.
