An audio signal of 15 kHz frequency cannot be transmitted over long distance without modulation because.

A

the size of the required antenna would be at least `5 km` which is not convenient

B

the audio signal can not be transmitted through sky waves

C

the size of the required antenna would be at least `20 km` , which is not convenient

D

effective power transmitted would be very low , if the size of the antenna is less than ` 5 km`

The correct Answer is:
A, B, D

Here , `v_(m) = 15 kHz = 15 xx 10^(3) Hz`
`lambda_(m) = (c )/( v_(m)) = ( 3 xx 10^(8))/( 15 xx 10^(3)) = (1)/(5) xx 10^(5) m`
Size of the antenna required , ` l = ( lambda)/( 4) = (1)/(4) ((1)/(5) xx 10^(5)) = 5 xx 10^(3) m = 5 km`
The audio signals are of low frequency waves . They cannot be transmitted through sky waves as they are absorbed by atmosphere.
If the size of the antenna is less than ` 5 km` , the effective power transmission would be very low because of deviation from resonance wavelength of wave and antenna length.

Assertion. Audio signal of frequencuy 10 KHz cannot be transmitted over long distance without modulation. Reason. Length of the antenna required lambda//4 . Should have practical value.

Electric power is transmitted over long distances through conducting wires at high voltage because

Modulation is the phenomenon of superimposing the low audio frequency base band message or information signals ( called the modulation signals) on a high frequency wave (called, the carrier wave). The resultant wave is called the modulated wave, which is transmitted. Read the above passage and answer the following questions: (i) What are the Audio Frequency and Radio Frequency ranges? (ii) Why audio frequency signals, as such cannot be transmitted over long distance? (iii) What does the phenomemom imply in day to day life ?

E.m. wave of audible frequency cannot be directly propagated over a long distance because

Audio signal cannot be transmitted because

An audio signal of frequency v_a is to be transmitted as an electormagnetic wave (i) directly as such (ii) through its use as modulating signal on a carrier wave of frequency v_c . State the ratio of the size of antenna that can properly sense the time variation of the signal.

STATEMENT 1 : The audio frequency signals (20 Hz to 20 kHz) cannot be transmitted without distortion over long distances STATEMENT-2: Noise has its greatest effect when the signal is weak

Audio signals cannot be directly transmitted into to space because

Both amplitude modulation (AM) and frequency modulation (FM) are used for radio broadcasting. The amplitude of the high frequency carrier wave is varied or modulated in accordance with the variations in the amplitude of the audio signals that are to be transmitted, in te process of amplitude modulation in frequency modulation te amplitude of the carrier remains constant but its frequency is varied inn accordance withh the audio signal. Reception with AM signals is in general is affected by interference of various kinds ad elaborated equipment is required for FM broadcast. A radio frequency carrier wave can be modulated using a-
