In a diode AM- detector, the output circuit consist of `R=1 k Omega` and `C=10 pF`. A carrier signal of `100 kHz` is to be detected. Is it good?

A

Yes

B

No

C

Information is not sufficient

D

May or may not detect

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
B

For demodulation `1/f_C " lt lt " RC`
`RC=10^3 xx 10^(-12) = 10^(-8) s`
`1/(f_C)=1/(100xx10^3)=10^(-5)` s
Thus `because 10^(-5) s gt 10^(-8) s`
`therefore 1/f_C` is not less than RC and the detector cannot detect the signal of 100 KHz .
