A capillary tube of length 10 cm and diameter of the bore is 0.5 mm dipped inwater vertically with one fourth of its total length outside the water . The radius of curvature of the meniscus will be (T = 75 dyne/cm and g = 1000 `cm//s^(2)`)

A

`0.2` mm

B

`0.02`mm

C

`0.6`mm

D

`0.8`mm

The correct Answer is:
C

` h = (2T)/(rdg)= (2 xx 75 )/(0.25xx1 xx 1000 ) = 6 ` cm
R is radius of the the drop formed above the capillary tube of insufficient length and h is the height of
the capillary tube outside the water.
rh = RH
` H = (rh)/R = (0.025xx6)/2.5 = 6 xx 10^(-2) ` cm = 0.6 mm
