The fundamental frequency of vibration of a wire fo certain length is 200 Hz. What will be the fundamental frequency of vibration, if the tension is made double and length of the wire is also doubled ?

A

141.1 Hz

B

200 Hz

C

281.0 Hz

D

400 Hz

The correct Answer is:
A

`T_2 = 2T_1`
`n_2/n_1 = l_1/l_2 sqrt(T_2/T_1) = 1/2xxsqrt(2) = (1)/(sqrt2)`
`therefore n_2 = (200)/(sqrt2) = sqrt(2)xx100 = 141.4Hz`
