The sequence of harmonics of a pipe open...

The sequence of harmonics of a pipe open at one end and closed to the other end are 250Hz and 350Hz . If the velocity of sound in air is 340m/s, then the resonating length of the air column in its fundamental mode will be

A

17.0m

B

1.70m

C

3.4m

D

34m

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
B

`2n=n_2-n_1`
`=350-250=100`
`n=100/2=50Hz`
`n=(v)/(4l_0)=(340)/(4xxl_0)`
`therefore l=(340)/(4xx50) = (340)/(200) = 1.7m`
