In Melde's experiment the srting vibrates in 4 loops when a 50 g weight is placed on the pan of weight 15 g.How much weight must be added or removed to make the string vibrate in 6 loops ?

A

7gm

B

36gm

C

21gm

D

29gm

The correct Answer is:
B

`T_1P_1^2= T_2P_2^2`
`therefore T_2 = T_1 (P_1^2)/(P_2^2) = (16xx65)/(36) = (260)/(9)`
`therefore m_2 = 28.88`
`therefore m_1-m_2 = 65 - 28.88=36.12gm`
